This morning, I stumbled upon something that I am certainly not the first one to notice. However, for me it was something new and it left me mind blown. But what is this all about?

You may know the famous equation e^{\pi i} = -1. The first important thing to notice is that it contains my favourite math constants (\pi, i, e). Second thing to notice, if the \pi is transcribed to roman letters, it is a p. That was my first hint at the magnificence of pie. My question now was, what can the equation tell me about nutrition? If the equation more or less literally spells out pie, there has to be something special about pie. So I started to fiddle around with the equation, which led to the following form of the equation: (\pi i e)^2 = -72.9270605939. Again, plugging in the roman numeral, this gives (p i e)^2 = -72.9270605939. That lead me to the conclusion, that pie that has a squared form in fact contains negative calories. This gave birth to a new diet: *The Cake Diet*. The basic idea is that you keep track of the calories that you eat all day long (let’s name that amount of calories c) and then at the end of the day you eat a squared pie with side length a such that a*(p i e)^2 = -72.9270605939*a = -c to eliminate the previously absorbed calories. That’s it, dieting made easy (and delicious!).

The next big thing will be integrating ice cream pie to that diet. This idea is directly derived from the definition of a calorie, which is as follows:

[A calorie is] the energy needed to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water through 1 °C (now usually defined as 4.1868 joules). [1]

Since ice has normally a temperature below zero, that should increase the effect of eliminating calories from the equation. However, that’s something I have to look deeper into in order to make it work…
